How to Choose a Home Nursing Service in Dhaka: 8 Questions to Ask

Before you hire a nurse or caregiver, these eight questions reveal how safe, reliable and transparent a provider really is.

Arranging care for someone you love means letting a stranger into your home. A short list of questions, asked before you agree to anything, separates reliable providers from risky ones.

1. Are your nurses and caregivers trained and verified?

Ask what training they have, how identity and references are checked, and whether the provider keeps records. You are entitled to know who is coming to your home.

2. Who supervises them after placement?

The weak point of many arrangements is the day after the nurse starts. Ask who visits, who you call at night, and how a problem or a replacement is handled.

3. Is there a free assessment?

A good provider looks at the patient and the home before quoting. Be careful of anyone who gives a final price without seeing the situation.

4. How is pricing explained?

Ask for the rate by shift type, what is included and what is extra, and get it in writing. Hidden charges for night shifts, travel or equipment cause most disputes.

5. Can they cover nights, holidays and emergencies?

Illness does not follow office hours. Confirm 24/7 availability and what happens if the assigned nurse is unwell.

6. Do they keep a daily care log?

Written records of medicines, vitals and meals protect the patient and keep every shift on the same page.

7. Can they match gender, language and temperament?

Comfort affects recovery. Ask whether you can request a female caregiver or someone experienced with dementia, newborns or a particular condition.

8. What if it is not working?

You should be able to change the caregiver, reduce hours or stop without a long lock-in. Flexibility is a sign the provider is confident in its service.
